In 1995 an exceptional show came across our TV screens called "Nowhere Man" and changed our lives. Never had we been so undivided in our attention to such a gripping story. After the first season sadly it was cancelled, but the impact could be felt for many years after that last episode in 1996. Nowhere Man HAD to be preserved. Unfortunately Nowhere Man seemed doomed to fade into the that dusty decomposing box of VHS tapes...

Enter the DVD revolution.

In our efforts to save this amazing show, we expected to use old faded VHS tapes or perhaps some more recent recordings if we were lucky enough to find them. We never dreamed of what would happen next. Thanx to the magic of the Internet, many Tom Veil fans came out of hiding to make significant contributions to the project. The results are extraordinary.

Topping the list are video masters sent to us anonymously of all 25 episodes that were recorded originally on SVHS from a recently aired high quality satellite source. These masters look and sound REALLY fantastic - FAR beyond what VHS is capable of and perfect for the DVD format. We were also lucky enough to receive commentary tracks recorded by a student with Larry Hertzog (Executive Producer, Writer and Creator) for some kind of school project focusing on Nowhere Man.

Commercials and station overlays have been removed (I challenge anyone to find where they were) so that we have clean episodes with only the act breaks to take us from chapter to chapter. We then encode them into MPEG2 video for the DVD video spec. The feedback we have received is that they look as good or better than many commercially available TV shows on DVD.

An official Nowhere Man DVD set is allegedly in production now for a release sometime around the holidays of 2005. We will therefore not be making any more DVD sets after the ones we have are gone.

WE ONLY HAVE A FEW SETS LEFT AND THEN THEY WILL BE GONE FOREVER!!!

THESE ARE NOT COPIES FROM OLD FADED VHS TAPES

THESE ARE NOT RIPS FROM THE DIVX VERSIONS
OR VCD/SVCD FLOATING AROUND THE NET.

QUITE THE OPPOSITE...

THE DIVX VERSIONS WERE TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THESE DVDs

VHS can only hold about 270 lines of resolution and when you combine that with a decade of aging, you have a poor excuse for video at all. Here are some samples of the picture quality:

Here are some comments made by early recipients of the first sets:

"I just can't believe how good this DVD set is. It's not some guy hacking out a downloaded copy of NwM on VCD in his basement. This thing is very very slick and professional. The disc art work is professional. The intro is commercial quality. The menu's work perfectly and make sense. Shouldn't something recorded off TV and burned onto a DVD be full of static, drop-out and faded color? Well forget it. This DVD rocks. I'm used to Satellite TV and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I hate VHS tape, broadcast TV or cable. This DVD is perhaps a shade lower quality than regular satellite but hardly noticeable. It's a real cut above our local cable TV or broadcast TV. I don't know where the source material came from but it's very good. Honestly the quality is so good it puts to shame many commercial DVD's I've seen."

"The project is too good to be true, but there is no conspiracy (at least according to my perception of what the truth is!). The comments already given by the other testers are accurate. I will just add that the project is being undertaken by someone who knows what he's doing."

"The skill, effort, and pride that you've obviously put into this piece make the word "professional" unfit to describe the result. Professional pieces don't get this much singular thought, this much attention to detail, this much *wholeness*. It is a passionate work, befitting the special nature of the source material. I feel very fortunate to have stumbled on your project. I thought I'd never get to see Nowhere Man again -- instead I get it even better than the first time around. "Nowhere Man Disenfranchised Edition" doesn't go on the shelf with the other DVDs. This work of art is proudly displayed in the AV "shrine" behind smoked glass with the DVD player and the Tivo. It's now the coolest thing I own."

Additional Notes:

1) Please
DO NOT try to sell copys of this set on eBay - The folks there have already been warned that these are bootlegs and will pull them down anyway and I do not want to advertise to the world that they exist for obvious reasons.

2) This DVD set is for Private Use and Demonstration Purposes ONLY - NOT for distribution.

3) This DVD set is created on DVD-R media with NO REGION CODING and not compatible with all DVD players. If you have a newer player (manufactured within last 2 years) it will probably play fine. They are NTSC (not PAL) but most PAL DVD players from what I understand will play NTSC fine as long as your TV also supports NTSC. If you have only one option for playing the DVDs and your player is older than 2 years I would advise waiting until you get a newer player and/or have found someone else who has had success with your particular brand and model. You can buy DVD players now that cost $25 which will play these DVDs (Apex 1200) I will send single replacement discs ($5 charge) for problem DVDs, but I will not give refunds for incompatibility issues. We have already done extensive testing with nearly 60 players and 99.5% of them played the discs fine - the only one that didn't was a car DVD player. You can find a list of tested set-top DVD players here:

http://www.apple.com/dvd/compatibility/
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

4) Understand that officially your PURCHASE will consist of ONLY the following items; The BLANK DVD-R disc media, The Amaray style DVD cases, and DVD case inserts. The metal DVD collector box is NOT INCLUDED but SOLD SEPARATELY. ANY and ALL printed and/or additional material on the DVDs is given to you freely as a friend and fellow Nowhere man fan for private use only. No I will not accept blank discs from anyone to cut down on costs - this project doesn't work that way. I am NOT a hobbyist/trader/collector of TV shows. Cost breakdown is as follows:

A) DVD-R disc media......$80
B) DVD cases...................$10
C) DVD case inserts.........$10

Shipping & Handling U.S.A......... $10
Shipping & Handling International. $20

1) Total U.S.A......................$110
2) Total International..............$120
